This split air conditioner, with 9,000 BTUs of cooling power, is highly energy efficient and is rated to 14.5 SEER. This means that per BTU of of cooling power created, less wattage is required to run the Spit AC unit. The split air setup gives you a low-cost alternative to a central air system and a quieter alternative to a window or portable system. The indoor unit of the AMS09 does not take up any floor space, as it is mounted on the wall.
In addition to cooling the air, this unit improves the air further by acting as a dehumidifier, removing up to 70 pints of water per 24 hours. No need to empty buckets of water; collected water moves to the external unit by itself.
Alen designed the AMS09 air handler to be an attractive unit that is mounted on the inside wall where the refrigerant and condensate lines run. Only a small hole is needed for the pipes, and since the compressor (like a central AC) is located outside the house, this means that it's quiet on the inside.
Note: Always use a HVAC contractor to install mini splits. Vacuuming and charging of the lineset / system is required during installation which needs to be done by a contractor. Do not try to install the product yourself; improper installation can result in water or refrigerant leakage, electrical shock, fire or explosion. Depending on code requirements, an electrician may also be needed to install a dedicated power circuit.
