The product performs great, but installing it was a frustration. I had to mount the receiver upside down from what the instructions showed to make it fit under the fan's ceiling trim plate - needed the curved edge of the receiver facing down and I hope it still cools properly as the cooling grill is facing down now. Sliding the receiver into the fan's mounting bracket was frustrating - it was very tight and would not fit until I did the following (yes, I did have the black ball positioned so its slot dropped onto the orientation key): I had to cut some plastic off the black plastic ball the fan hangs on to allow the green ground wire attached inside the ball to have a place to exit, and the receiver would not fit at all until I cut this notch in the ball for this wire. Once installed, there is no room for the fan to move, or self-center on the mounting ball - it is all pinched ridgid. This is the only remote control the manufacturer's website recommends for the fan. I called their help line and was just told that "a lot of them get used with that fan so it must fit" - they were no help at all. The photo of what I got did not match the photo of what I ordered (receiver and remote were both different), but the help line person assured me what I got has replaced the one in the photo which is no longer available - the model number was the same. The receiver in the photo I ordered from looked like it was better shaped (rounded) to fit under the ceiling trim plate then what I got. I have installed 5 ceiling fans with remote controls in the last few years and this was by far the most frustrating due to the above issues.
