Well designed blades help this fan circulate more air than most "hugger" style fans. The built-in light does not alter the over all look or decrease head clearance. The remote control works well for both fan speed and light intensity. The control uses a funky battery. I would have preferred AAAs or 9V. Fan produces a louder hum at low speed than any other ceiling fan in my house (some are home cheapos)Not loud enough to hear over a TV but possibly an issue for some if installed in a bedroom. I mounted two of these in one room and found it impossible to get the fan housings to snug up to the ceiling.There is about a 1/8" gap which will make it easier to paint the ceiling without hitting the fan but detracts from the neatness of the look of the installation. Has a halogen light w/ a dimmer. Flush mount is great for 8 foot ceilings. Installation is easy, but the base is very heavy so try not to drop it on your head, ouch!!
