We have multiple fans from multiple manufacturers.
I am impressed with the build quality and the style of this fan. It is designed for a low ceiling and it works well in a small room such as a master bedroom. And yes, the base is made of ceramic and it is heavy.
I would recommend this fan.

Easy installation, beautiful, quiet fan!

It should be stated on the web site that the fan is made of ceramic (terra cotta?) and is VERY heavy. Also we were worried when the fan motor was noisy before the blades were attached, but once attached, the fan is quiet. We also tried to use the low wattage fluorescent bulbs, but they would not work properly and now have incandescent which light the room very well. The fan is absolutely gorgeous without being gaudy, and the remote works great. It is a beautiful, quiet, and well-working fan. It fits in great with our Arts and Crafts home.
