I mounted these in my kids bathroom, I was a little afraid they might be too big at the 12 in height listed, but I measure them at only 9.5 in, so the worked great. just the right size, don't know where they get 12 from. the only con I have, is I put them on a dimmer switch and when turned down they give off a high pitch whine. but a lot of light do that when dimmed. not too much of a annoyance.
